On January 31, 2014, the 21-year-old Canadian was due to check out of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, a location notorious for murders, suicides and paranormal activity, however no one seen here went out of the hotel.
Public interest in her disappearance began to rise two weeks later when police released CCTV footage of Elisa acting erratically the day she disappeared.
Elisa can be seen exiting and re-entering an elevator, which doesn’t appear to work, talking and gesturing manically in the hallways outside and seemingly hiding in the elevator, although nobody else can be seen.
Nineteen days later, hotel staff checked the water tank on the alarmed, secured rooftop after receiving complaints about strange tasting, black water and found Elisa’s partly decomposed, naked body floating alongside her clothes and possessions.
In the video Elisa looks as though she could be under the influence of drugs, but no alcohol or substances were found in her system during the autopsy.
Some have suggested her death could have come after a bipolar episode, a condition she suffered from.
